As you might have read previously, I was privileged be in company for Sarah Jaffe‘s newest album-listening session last month. Jaffe is a 26-year-old singer-songwriter who hails over the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in Texas. She has gotten a lot of hype over the years from all over the place, and now most recently including NPR, Vogue, and Marie Claire (What?! Awesome!).
In celebration of her album releasing today, The Body Wins, here is a short video of Jaffe singing “Sucker for Your Marketing.” The video is filmed on my iPhone 4s, so I apologize beforehand for any poor sound quality you might encounter.
Please support the album here or here. I prefer vinyl myself and can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. Jaffe also headlines at the Granada Theater in Dallas, TX on May 5th.

35 Denton is a walkable, 4-day music festival in Denton, TX. Denton itself is a musical hub (thanks to UNT and all that jazz), but when 35 Denton rolls around, acts from all over the world come to play. 35 Denton includes day panels, free shows, big outdoor main stages, indoor venues, food trucks, and live screen-printing. 35 Denton is like SXSW‘s little sister and happens the weekend before SXSW’s music portion.
This was my first year to be at the festival as a regular patron and not a volunteer. The past two years, I have volunteered as a venue liaison for 35 Denton — once called NX35 (2010) and 35 Conferette (2011). In the past, volunteering meant working with the bands (like Julianna Barwick and Dan Deacon), running around on my bicycle, and getting into shows for “free.”
This year, however, I had a blast taking it easy and being walkie-talkie free. I had a 4-day wristband, but I must be getting old, because I really only took advantage of one full day at the festival. Here’s my (crappy, rained on iPhone) point of view of Saturday at 35 Denton:

I had such a busy weekend that I have decided to share bits and pieces with you. From Dallas to Denton and back, I carried my beautiful SLR camera, but ended up shooting everything from my iPhone! Check out some of my adventures below…
FRIDAY 2/18: @35Denton on Twitter asks their followers, “Where’s everyone going tonight?” I answered, “My backyard with my grill and some Fireman’s #4.” (I also picked up a FEW of the mega exclusive The Good Child x We Are 1976 tees for the online shop).
